photos were taken
during his Holiness the Dalai Lama's visit
to Paris from 11 to the 17 of October 2003.
This event was organized by the association Compassion 2003.
Four Tibetan restaurants responded to the association's request
to set up an restaurant in a tent outside Bercy
- the place where the Dalai Lama gave his teachings.
The kitchen, however, was situated 200 meters away from the tent
at the same level of the underground parking of Bercy.
All the equipment had to be rented and installed.
Everyday a different vegetarian menu was served
in accordance with the Buddhist tradition.
It was a labour of love, or compassion
as the Dalai Lama would have put it,
for the hours were long
the benefits short.
